Formula 1 star and seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton is leaving Mercedes. He will join Ferrari in 2025.
Sky News reports this. Hamilton has confirmed that he is leaving Mercedes at the end of the upcoming season. He spent 11 years with the team. An official announcement is expected later.
“I’ve spent an incredible 11 years with this team and I’m very proud of what we’ve achieved together. Mercedes has been a part of my life since I was 13. It’s where I grew up, so the decision to leave was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made. “But now is the right time for me to take this step and I’m excited to take on a new challenge,” Hamilton said in a statement.
The 39-year-old Briton is expected to replace Carlos Sainz at Ferrari. His contract ends at the end of 2024. At the same time, another Ferrari driver, Charles Leclerc, recently signed a new long-term agreement with the team.
Updated: Scuderia Ferrari has officially confirmed that Hamilton will join the team in 2025.
“Scuderia Ferrari is pleased to announce that Lewis Hamilton will join the team in 2025 on a multi-year contract,” the statement said.
