Deputies propose to consider the relevant resolution during the sessional meeting of the European Parliament on February 26.
The European Union is not doing enough to support Ukraine and must increase its financial, military and humanitarian assistance to Kyiv to ensure Russia’s defeat in its war against Ukraine. Members of all influential political groups stated this during debates in the European Parliament, DW reports.
It is noted that parliamentarians proposed to allocate a quarter of a percent of the national GDP of each EU member state for military assistance to Kyiv and to adopt a “victory plan for Ukraine.”
According to the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, in March the amount of 155-mm ammunition transferred to Ukraine will reach 500 thousand out of the promised million, however, this assistance is not enough.
“We must not only speed up the delivery of ammunition. We must look to the future and consider Ukraine’s defense capabilities as our own. … This will help not only cover Ukraine’s defense needs, but will also contribute to joint planning between our militaries,” von der Leyen said .
She also emphasized that “Europe will be next to Ukraine during every day of this war and every day after it.”
The publication adds that the resolution entitled “The need for unwavering EU support for Ukraine after two years of Russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine” will be put to a vote during the sessional meeting of the European Parliament on February 26.
