An absolute record: the largest group of draft dodgers during the war was detained on the border with Hungary

Among the draft dodgers are representatives of 11 regions of Ukraine.

A record group of evaders who tried to illegally leave the country were detained at the border with Hungary. The organizers of the “scheme” tried to take out 38 people of military age at once.

The Western Regional Directorate of the State Border Guard Service reported that the border patrol of the Luzhanka department, together with operational officers, stopped two minibuses with 40 men near the border with Hungary. Among the draft dodgers are representatives of 11 regions of Ukraine.

“The drivers of the vehicles were residents of Transcarpathia, who transported 38 people of military age, this is a record-breaking group of border violators detained during a full-scale war. It included the most residents of Transcarpathia – 12 people, Lviv region – 6 people, Kiev region – 5 people, the rest are from the Dnipropetrovsk region, Ivano-Frankivsk region, Khmelnytsky region, Poltava region, Zaporozhye, Kherson region, Cherkasy region and Rivne region,” the message says.

For the “services” of illegally transporting men abroad, the organizers charged a considerable amount. The draft dodgers paid between US$4,500 and US$8,500.

“The border guards informed the police about the fact that signs of a crime under Article 332 of the Criminal Code were identified in the actions of the carriers. In relation to the detainees, protocols on administrative offenses under Article 204-1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses “Illegal crossing or attempt to illegally cross the state border of Ukraine” were drawn up, the cases were sent to court,” the border guards added.

Detention of draft dodgers: other news

In the Odessa region, a 44-year-old dodger who tried to cross the border was detained for the fourth time. A 24-year-old resident of the Zaporozhye region tried to leave the country with him; border guards stopped him for the second time. It is noteworthy that the men paid 3.5 thousand dollars each for the service of navigating an unhindered route to the neighboring country.

Earlier it was also reported that border guards pulled a draft dodger from the icy water who was trying to swim across the Dniester to get to Moldova. The 35-year-old Kharkov resident was discovered in time by a border detachment.
