Syrsky is a general born in the village of Novinki, Kirzhachsky district, Vladimir region. Since the 1980s he has lived in Ukraine.
He graduated from the Moscow Higher Combined Arms Command School. Since then his military career began. In 2020, Syrsky became a colonel general. In the period from 2019 to 2024, he was commander of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. And on February 8 of this year he became commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
It is known that with the beginning of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky commanded the defense of Kyiv, for which he was awarded the title Hero of Ukraine by President Vladimir Zelensky. In September 2022, he commanded the offensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kharkov region.

Molfar Max Gordeev says that Syrsky is a good strategist and theorist. According to him, now the new commander-in-chief will have to prove that he can hold this position.
“He, of course, is not Zaluzhny, but he will try to do everything as it should be. Therefore, I am sure that there is no need to perceive this person negatively. It seems to me that, firstly, this is a person who will communicate normally with the president, because that he is tired of quarrels with Zaluzhny. And, secondly, there are positive points that can be said about Syrsky. He is smart, a good theorist, a strategist. The main thing is that this person does not get involved in corruption,” Gordeev said.
Molfar added that now Syrsky can safely carry out his duties.
“But I don’t think it’s worth expecting 100% positivity from him. I would advise all Ukrainians to calm down, because with or without Zaluzhny, Ukraine will still win,” Gordeev added.
