On Friday, Putin will hold an operational meeting with the Security Council.
The release of Valery Zaluzhny from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will not change the course of the so-called “special military operation” of the Russian Federation. This was stated by the press secretary of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Dmitry Peskov, RosSMI reported.
“We do not think that these are factors that can change the course of the special operation,” Peskov said.
He also noted that the “special operation” will continue “until its goals are achieved.”
At the same time, according to Peskov, on Friday, February 9, Putin will work in the Kremlin and hold an operational meeting with members of the Russian Security Council. The speaker did not disclose the topic of the meeting, emphasizing that Putin himself would indicate it, or the Kremlin press service would reveal the details later.
Dismissal of Zaluzhny
On Thursday, February 8, Valery Zaluzhny was officially dismissed from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The corresponding decree was signed by the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky. By another decree, the head of state appointed a new commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This was Colonel General Alexander Syrsky.
Subsequently, there was a reaction from the world to the appointment of Syrsky and the dismissal of Zaluzhny. Ukraine’s partners are committed to working with its new military leadership. Thus, the White House does not see any concerns about instability in Ukraine due to changes in the military leadership. There was no requirement to coordinate this decision with the American side in advance and they consider it Ukraine’s sovereign choice.
