Liberation of Zaluzhny: main
On February 8, President Zelensky dismissed Valery Zaluzhny from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Colonel General Alexander Syrsky was appointed to this position. He is known for the defense of Kyiv and the successful counter-offensive of Ukrainian troops in the Kharkov region.
Speaking about the reasons for the dismissal of Valery Zaluzhny, Zelensky said that the Ukrainian army needs changes. According to him, now there is a “sense of stagnation” on the southern directions of the front and difficulties in battles in the Donetsk region.
“Ukrainians have become less likely to talk about victory. But the Ukrainian spirit has not lost faith in victory. Ukraine retains its historical chance. It is our duty to realize it. This year should become the time of Ukraine – the time when every Ukrainian warrior will know, as before, that The Ukrainian state and the Ukrainian army are capable of winning,” the head of state added.
