Elon Musk’s company claims that Starlink does not operate in Russia and has not sent any equipment there.
SpaceX does not do business with the Russian government or its military. This is stated in the company’s response to accusations that Russia began buying Starlink through Dubai with fully licensed accounts, Newsweek reports.
The publication notes that SpaceX did not provide a comment in response to the email, but provided a link to its statement via a message on X.
“Starlink does not operate in Russia, meaning the service will not work in this country. SpaceX has never sold Starlink in Russia or shipped equipment to locations in Russia. If Russian stores claim to sell Starlink for service in this country, they are deceiving their customers,” the company said in a statement.
SpaceX also says it does not operate in Dubai and does not authorize any resellers or distributors to sell Starlink in the UAE capital.
“If SpaceX receives information that a Starlink terminal is being used by a sanctioned or unauthorized party, we will investigate the allegation and take action to decontaminate the terminal if it is confirmed,” the company said.
Use of Starlink by Russians in the war in Ukraine
Recently, information appeared in the media that Russians began to massively use Starlink at the front. Thus, according to the Ukrainian military, the Russian Federation began to buy Starlink through Dubai with fully licensed accounts.
CNN previously reported that Elon Musk allegedly ordered the shutdown of Starlink to thwart the Ukrainian attack on Crimea.
