Over the past 10 weeks, the share of Shaheds destroyed has fallen by 33%.
The effectiveness of Ukrainian air defense has recently decreased – over the past 10 weeks, the share of destroyed Shaheds has fallen by 33%, according to the UA War Infographics public page.
Thus, according to the presented summary, back in December the efficiency of air defense against drones was about 90% or more, but in January the figures began to decline and over the last two weeks amounted to about 60%.
Among the reasons for the decline in efficiency, analysts cite the following:
- when one UAV is shot down, others change course,
- Russians conducting additional reconnaissance of the location of Ukrainian air defense,
- the appearance of “Shaheds” with a jet engine, which fly faster (not 180-220 km/h, but 450-600 km/h),
- heat traps on missiles that fly along with the UAV,
- night camouflage (painting drones black or carbonate coating).
