They discussed, in particular, the situation at the front and the protection of front-line regions.
President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky held the first meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Headquarters in a renewed composition. The head of state announced this on Telegram.
“The First Headquarters has a renewed composition. The priority issues remain unchanged: the front and the protection of front-line regions, people and critical infrastructure from Russian air terror,” Zelensky noted.
The head of state added that reports were heard from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky and the Chief of the General Staff Anatoly Bargilevich, intelligence representatives, commanders of operational-strategic groupings of troops. In particular, they talked about Avdeevka, Kupyansk, the south, as well as providing the army with everything necessary: shells, drones and electronic warfare equipment.
In addition, reports were presented by power engineers and heads of military-civil administrations of front-line regions. They discussed the further development of multi-level protection of electrical, water and heat supply facilities.
“We made a decision to increase the number and capabilities of mobile fire groups,” Zelensky said.
Changes in the leadership of the Defense Forces
Recently in Ukraine there have been changes in the leadership of the Defense Forces. In particular, Valery Zaluzhny was dismissed from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In his place, Zelensky appointed Alexander Syrsky.
At the same time, Anatoly Bargilevich was appointed chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine instead of Sergei Shaptala.
Changes also occurred in different branches of the military. Thus, Alexander Pavlyuk became the commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuri Sodol was appointed commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Igor Skibyuk was appointed commander of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and Igor Plakhuta was appointed commander of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
