During the Battle of Kyiv, Syrsky attacked the Russians indirectly, Mick Ryan recalled.
The commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Alexander Syrsky, will look for Russian weaknesses or gaps that can be exploited or tested by using Ukrainian forces. This opinion was expressed by retired Major General of the Australian Armed Forces and military strategist Mick Ryan in an interview with Telegraph, answering a question about Syrsky’s future strategy for the new offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“It’s very important to identify where Russia’s weak point is. And I think that’s what General Syrsky has been doing for the last few years. During the Battle of Kiev, he didn’t attack the Russians directly, but hit hard where they were weak, and that led to cascade of enemy problems. He did the same thing in the Kharkov region,” the general noted.
In his opinion, Syrsky will test the weaknesses of the Russian Federation, most likely at the beginning of 2025.
“But he’s not looking for the kind of fighting that happened in the south during the counter-offensive,” Mick Ryan added.
As wrote, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Syrsky said that Ukraine should first of all rely on itself in terms of weapons production, and not just on its partners.
“Weapons are not enough, there simply aren’t enough of them. And even the weapons that are used have a physical lifespan. Any barrel has wear and tear. It can fire a specific number of shells, after which it must be replaced. This is a war not only of people, but also of economies.” , he said.
