Ignat noted that there will always be a shortage of missiles, as well as ammunition in general.
Ukraine really needs long- and medium-range missiles to deter Russian aviation at a distance from the border.
The speaker of the Air Force Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Yuriy Ignat, said this during a telethon, commenting on the issue of Ukraine’s needs for air defense missiles.
First of all, Ignat noted that there will always be a shortage of missiles and ammunition in general, since Ukraine constantly repels enemy attacks and spends a certain number of missiles in accordance with one or another attack. Accordingly, the corresponding expenditure is calculated taking into account each missile fired at an enemy target. A report is made and the data is transferred to our partners.
At the same time, according to him, the needs are being substantiated, including for long-range missiles.
“There our representatives say that Ukraine has spent so much money on defense, we need such and such additional missiles, or even systems in the future in order to continue to conduct effective anti-aircraft battles. We need missiles not only to destroy Russian cruise or ballistic missiles “We, the Air Force, desperately need long- and medium-range missiles to deter Russian aviation at a distance from Ukrainian-controlled territory. This is a key issue – to prevent Russian aviation along the entire border line, starting from Belarus, where there is also enemy aviation activity there today.” , – said Ignat.
Regarding missile reserves in the Russian Federation, he noted that there is hope that “the production of Russian missiles today tends to be difficult under sanctions.”
“We really hope that the sanctions announced against Russia will at least interfere with the constant increase in their production,” Ignat said.
War in Ukraine: news
Yesterday, Ignat, commenting on changes in the defense of the skies of Ukraine over two years of war, said that today there are significant changes in the Ukrainian air defense – a huge fleet in terms of the range of weapons. According to him, the “discovery” of this war was the mobile fire groups, which today work in thousands on the front line and in the middle of the country, protecting territories from the Shaheeds. At the same time, a representative of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces noted that more specialized equipment is needed to protect Ukraine from ballistic missiles.
