The issue of providing the Ukrainian Defense Forces with weapons against enemy drones was discussed at a separate meeting chaired by President Vladimir Zelensky. The head of state announced this on Telegram.

“Had a meeting with the government, military and defense industry to give our soldiers new, modern weapons against enemy reconnaissance drones. Orlan or ZALA over the front line are eyes for Russian artillery and attack UAVs. Ukraine has a solution to blind them. It is necessary to introduce a systematic approach, from identification to the effective use of electronic warfare and weapons,” Zelensky noted.

The head of state reportedly gave instructions to create a comprehensive system that would unite the army and industry. “So that manufacturers know exactly the needs of the front, and the army knows the production capabilities in all regions,” the president explained.

According to him, the front needs a quick response to challenges and threats. “We must do everything to protect the most important thing we have on the battlefield – the lives of our soldiers,” Zelensky said.

Drone war in Ukraine

As reported, on February 6, President Zelensky ordered the creation of a separate branch of forces for drones in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The decree “On increasing the capabilities of the defense forces” was published on the president’s website.

At the same time, in his evening video message, the head of state commented on the signing of this document. According to Zelensky, this is not a question of the future – this is something that should give a very specific result in the near future. He emphasized that drones – unmanned systems – have proven their effectiveness in battles on the ground, in the sky and at sea.

He emphasized that Ukraine has really changed the security situation in the Black Sea thanks to drones.
