Most likely, there will be a refocusing on other sectors of the front where the Russians are catalyzing the offensive, Kovalenko noted.
In the current situation, Avdiivka now gives absolutely nothing to the Russian occupation forces, says military-political observer Alexander Kovalenko.
“Behind Avdiivka, the defense lines of the SOU begin, prepared to meet the enemy… At the same time, each village is a fortified object, opening which is not an easy task… Apparently, then we will see the same sequence of actions as after the occupation of Bakhmut,” he noted , reports Obozrevatel.
He is confident that the Russians will cultivate Avdiivka until the end of the elections and for some time after, in order to stimulate mobilization processes, and then they will forget, just like Bakhmut.
“They will forget, because after Avdeevka there will be no rapid and “heroic” movement. And there will most likely be a redefinition of attention to other sectors of the front, where the offensive will be catalyzed by the transfer of liberated units,” Kovalenko suggested.
He added that the priority of the Russian command is Kupyansk, Chasov Yar, Novomikhailovka, as well as the resumption of the offensive on Ugledar and in the Zaporozhye region, the return to control of the territories lost in 2023 in the area of Verbovoy and Rabotino.
“Units from the Civil Guard Center may be returned to their zone of responsibility or even strengthened by the Civil Guard West. The Avdeevka zone will come under the responsibility of the 1st AK and will turn into a sluggish positional confrontation,” the expert admitted.
He also recalled that the Russian command spent an unjustified, exaggerated amount of resources with practically zero after-effect in the battles for Avdievka.
Avdeevka – current news
Let us remind you that a serviceman of the 26th separate rifle battalion of the 47th Mechanized Infantry Brigade, Maxim Kurinsky, answered the question of why the Ukrainian Armed Forces were not withdrawn from Avdeevka earlier:
“In my opinion, there is more of a political component here. The military has a very simple task: there is an order, we work, we carry it out. The advantage is numerical: one Ukrainian serviceman to seven enemy servicemen. Political decisions, as I understand it, do not really take this into account.”
