According to the Foreign Minister, the city would have remained under Ukrainian control if ammunition had been available.
Ukraine would not have lost Avdiivka if it had received all the artillery ammunition needed to defend the city. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said this in a commentary to CNN.
According to him, Ukrainian soldiers “must be given credit” for standing up against Russia and sacrificing their lives on the front line.
“But the reason they are forced to sacrifice themselves and die is because someone is still debating the decision. And I respect internal politics and will not interfere with it, but I just want everyone to remember that every day debate in one place means another death in another place,” the diplomat emphasized.
Kuleba also noted that the war will continue and “Russia does not intend to pause.”
The publication recalls that Avdeevka has been on the front line since 2014, when pro-Moscow separatists captured large parts of Donbass. Ukrainian forces managed to hold the city for two years until February 17, when they withdrew troops from the area.
The situation in Avdeevka
British intelligence explained whether the Russian Federation could immediately take advantage of the capture of Avdievka. According to analysts, the Russian invaders lack the combat capability to immediately take advantage of the result.
It is noted that in the coming weeks Russia will likely seek to gradually expand its territorial control beyond Avdiivka.
Earlier, deputy commander of the Third Assault Brigade Maxim Zhorin assessed the situation at the front. According to him, the Russians suffered almost record losses in equipment and manpower in the battles for Avdeevka.
