According to Bridget Brink, the White House is doing everything possible to speed up the provision of support to Kyiv.
The United States of America – in particular, President Joe Biden – is seeking to speed up the approval of new funding to help Ukraine. At the same time, there is no “Plan B” in case Congress refuses to support the initiative. The US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink spoke about this, RBC-Ukraine reports.
“No, we don’t have a Plan B, we are focused one hundred percent on Plan A – Congress supports the president’s request and the president signs an additional request for Ukraine,” Brink said.
She noted that Congress is now responsible for how quickly the United States can restore aid to Ukraine. The diplomat recalled that she spoke twice with Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson. According to her, he supports Kyiv and understands how important the Russian Federation’s loss in the war is.
“I can’t tell you the exact time frame. But I can say that the president and we are all doing everything possible to speed up this process. My message is that we cannot waste time, not a day, not an hour, not a second. People are dying every day,” Brink emphasized.
US assistance to Ukraine – latest news
US President Joe Biden is ready to meet with the Speaker of the House of Representatives to help Ukraine. Republicans are making a mistake by opposing the relief package, he said.
Biden noted that if Republicans do not pay for common defense, they are trying to hide from the Russian threat by “moving away from NATO.”
Earlier, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky made a statement about US assistance. He said he expects Washington to take a pragmatic approach to protecting global security in order to bolster support for Ukraine.
