David Cameron criticized the Russians’ ridiculous excuses for the reasons for their aggression against Ukraine.
The behavior of Russian President Vladimir Putin can be compared to the behavior of the Nazis during World War II. This was stated by British Foreign Secretary David Cameron in his speech on the second anniversary of the full-scale war.
Speaking at a debate at the UN General Assembly, the British diplomat called the Russian president a “neo-imperialist hooligan” and recalled the atrocities committed by Russians in the occupied territories.
“Take Bucha. Mutilated bodies of civilians with their hands tied, shot at close range. A children’s center turned into a torture chamber. Rape of teenage girls. Alarming radio intercepts of Russian soldiers who call it a ‘cleansing operation,'” he recalled.
In his next speech – already at a meeting of the UN Security Council, Cameron directly compared the Putin regime with the Nazis of the Second World War.
“So many ridiculous explanations [от Кремля] have we already had to invade? Are they (Ukrainians) criminals or brothers of Russians? At one point, Ukraine is an existential threat. Then we are told that it does not exist. Are you fighting NATO puppets or Nazis? The only people who behave like Nazis are the Putin regime. (…) Putin believes he can seize territory, redraw borders, use force to build his empire,” Cameron said.
Second anniversary of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine
As wrote, a number of world leaders addressed Ukrainians on the second anniversary of the Russian invasion. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Canadian and Spanish Prime Ministers Justin Trudeau and Petr Sánchez, European Council President Charles Michel and others recorded a video message or made written statements in which they assured that they would stand with Ukraine until victory.
In addition, on the second anniversary of the war, the President of the European Commission (the “head of government” of the EU), Ursula von der Leyen, came to Kyiv. Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson also confirmed his visit.
