The prime minister noted that it is necessary to find a solution that will not harm Ukraine and Polish farmers.
There is no shortage in Polish-Ukrainian relations, there is one critical point in exporting Ukrainian grain and other agricultural products to Poland to Europe without duties and without the standards that exist in the EU. This was stated by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, writes Dziennik Gazeta Prawna.
He expressed hope that Ukrainian politicians will “refrain from emotional comments” on this matter.
“Here we need to look for a solution, and not look for something that could divide us, because it would be the greatest idiocy in the history of our peoples if we quarreled now and did not find a solution to this issue, because we need each other friend as never before,” he said.
According to him, Poland is the last country that must prove its solidarity with Ukraine. At the same time, he called on other Western countries to step up their efforts to help Ukraine.
“Brussels, that is, the European institutions, as well as Kiev, must understand that maintaining what we have now is unacceptable for hundreds of thousands of hardworking people in Poland and Europe. We must find a solution that will not harm Ukraine, but Polish farmers cannot be victims of this decision. That’s all,” Tusk emphasized.
Discontent of Polish farmers
Polish farmers have intensified protests on the border with Ukraine. On the night of February 25, another sabotage of Ukrainian agricultural products occurred in Poland. Near Bydgoszcz, unknown persons opened eight train cars and poured corn onto the railway tracks.
At the same time, Polish carriers plan to resume promotions from March 1, which were suspended in January. They complain that Ukrainians are pushing them out of the market. From November 2023, they demand that the obligation for carriers from Ukraine to have permits be restored.
