This was facilitated by an increase in oil supplies to ESPO, which made it possible to compensate for the difficulties with transporting the Sokol.
Total Russian oil exports rose to their highest level in nearly four months. Bloomberg reports this.
The weekly volume of Russian oil supplies in the seven days to February 22 increased by 365 thousand barrels per day to 3.5 million. This is 215 thousand barrels per day above the target. This growth made it possible to compensate for difficulties with the supply of Russian Sokol oil.
The latter arose due to the fact that Indian oil refiners began to fear American sanctions and were forced to reconsider their plans due to rising transportation costs, the publication notes.
Currently, at least 14 cargoes of Sokol oil are on ships, their total volume is about 10 million barrels, the media writes. As previously reported, only a few such cargoes arrived in India this month.
India saves Russia’s economy
Last year, India ranked first in seaborne imports of Russian oil. According to experts, from January to May 2023, the Russians increased oil supplies to India to 37 million tons – this is about 11 times more than in the same period the year before (for the entire 2022, India imported 33.4 million tons of Russian oil ).
In February it became known that the Russians received “unprecedented” income from oil exports. At the same time, Indian petroleum products produced from Russian oil are actively purchased by the United States, among others.
