Japan has approved new sanctions against Russia, trying to demonstrate a united front with other G7 countries, Bloomberg writes, citing the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Thus, Tokyo applied an export ban to another 29 Russian organizations. Also, 12 people, seven organizations and a bank were added to the sanctions freeze list.
“We decided on the latest sanctions in cooperation with the G-7 from the point of view of what would be effective in achieving a just and lasting peace in Ukraine. Japan will continue to cooperate with the international community, including the G-7,” the Cabinet Secretary General said Japanese Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi.
Japanese sanctions now apply to the son of Krasnoyarsk ex-governor Artem Uss, who escaped from house arrest in Italy. The Kalashnikov and Almaz-Antey concerns, Tinkoff Bank, United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) and others fell under the restrictions, writes Radio Liberty.

Sanctions against the Russian Federation
In February, the European Union approved the 13th package of sanctions against the Russian Federation. It was decided to impose sanctions against 106 individuals and 88 legal entities for actions that undermine or threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.
Canada also expanded and strengthened sanctions against the Russian Federation on the anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine. In total, sanctions were imposed against 153 companies and ten people, including Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Igor Levitin, President of the Russian Chess Federation Andrei Filatov, head of Voentorg Vladimir Pavlov and co-owner of Transmashholding Andrei Bokarev.
