The losses of Ukraine’s infrastructure due to the war are named: data by region (infographics)

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia has been shelling Ukrainian cities with all available weapons. Due to enemy attacks, infrastructure losses reached colossal figures.

The information was shared by the UA War Infographics project. It is noted that direct losses for buildings and infrastructure amount to $153 billion. At the same time, the figure is growing every day.

In terms of regions, the Donetsk region suffered the greatest damage. They are valued at $38.7 billion. The Kharkiv region took second place, with losses reaching $27.8 billion.

The list of the most affected areas also included:

  • Lugansk region – infrastructure losses from the war are estimated at $17.8 billion;
  • Zaporozhye region – $13.5 billion;
  • Kherson region – $12.6 billion;
  • Kyiv region – $11.2 billion.

Infrastructure losses in the Sumy and Nikolaev regions are estimated at $5.5 and 5.6 billion, respectively. In the Chernihiv region this mark reached $3 billion, in the Dnepropetrovsk region – 2.9.

At the same time, there are two areas where damage to infrastructure as a result of the war has not been recorded. These are Ternopil and Chernivtsi regions.

Losses from the war

In December 2023, experts from the Kyiv School of Economics project “Russia will pay” reported that the amount of damage to Ukraine’s infrastructure due to the war as of January 2024 exceeded $150 billion. This assessment also takes into account the losses caused to Ukraine due to the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station by the invaders in June.

The housing stock remains in first place in terms of the amount of damage. The number of damaged or destroyed residential buildings is more than 250 thousand buildings, most of them private houses.
