As Vladimir Zelensky notes, the inaugural global summit should take place in Switzerland.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced his readiness to hold a peace summit with the participation of the Russian Federation to end the war, and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky responded that the first global summit will be held in Switzerland without the Russian Federation.

According to an correspondent, Erdogan said this at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in Istanbul. Erdogan said that he discussed in detail with Zelensky the events related to the war and stated his point of view.

“We support the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of our strategic partner – Ukraine,” Erdogan assured.

According to him, the war is causing an increase in negative impacts regionally and globally, and above all, on Ukraine.

“Diplomatic steps were not taken for the negotiating table that we formed in Istanbul in March 2022 to establish peace,” Erdogan said.

He added that from the very beginning, Turkey has been making contributions to end the war through negotiations.

“We are ready to host a peace summit, in which Russia will also be involved,” Erdogan emphasized.

The Turkish President also said that today he and Zelensky exchanged views on the stability of the Black Sea, in particular regarding expert corridors and the safety of navigation. According to him, the Black Sea Grain Initiative made it possible to deliver 33 million tons of grain to those countries that need food.

“If an intention is expressed to ensure new agreements between the parties, we, as before, will provide all possible support,” Erdogan emphasized.

He added that it is of great importance for Ukraine to stand firmly on its feet economically in the future, and for sustainable peace to be established.

“In the next period, on the one hand, we will be in solidarity with Ukraine, and on the other, we will continue our work to end the war with a just, negotiated peace,” Erdogan said.

In turn, Zelensky said that today they talked a lot about the Peace Formula. “I briefed Mr. President on the preparations for the global peace summit at the leadership level, which is being organized in Switzerland. The inaugural peace summit. It is obvious that Turkey’s special role deserves the leadership of your state to be shown at the peace summit and in the joint work of the world majority for full implementation Formulas for peace,” Zelensky emphasized.

At the same time, he spoke about the format of the global peace summit.

“We do not see representatives of Russia at this summit. We do not see how you can invite people who block, destroy and kill everything. We want to get a result. The result is a just world. And just for Ukraine. Therefore, first the civilized countries of the world They will develop a detailed plan and have results, and only then they will attract representatives of Russia, precisely those who are ready for a just world,” Zelensky states.

Peace negotiations in Ukraine

Zelensky hopes the first peace summit will take place this spring. He stated that Ukraine does not want any formats of negotiations, any peace formulas to be imposed on it.

He stressed that the initiative can only come from Ukraine, and for the first time the Ukrainian side proposed the Peace Formula in Indonesia in November 2022 at the summit, which Zelensky calls G-19, not G-20. The formula consists of 10 points, among which we are talking about “restoring the territorial integrity of Ukraine and the world order,” “the release of all prisoners and deported people,” “the withdrawal of Russian troops and the cessation of hostilities.”

At the same time, Zelensky wants the second peace summit to take place not on the European continent.
