According to the ex-commander of the company of the Aidar battalion, it does not happen that one side always succeeds in everything, and the other side succeeds in nothing.

During war, the destruction of equipment is, unfortunately, a normal occurrence. Former platoon commander of the Aidar battalion, Yevgeny Dikiy, said this on Radio NV.

Commenting on the video of the occupiers, which recorded the destruction of two Ukrainian batteries of the American Patriot air defense system and the HIMARS artillery system, the veteran noted that it is quite convincing.

“We do not officially refute this. We are officially just silent. Well, yes, there is a damaged HIMARS and yes, there are two damaged Patriot launchers. The video there leaves no doubts, to be honest. What’s wrong with that? Unfortunately, this is war. On war always has losses and in war not only we fight, but also the enemy fights against us. And it does not happen that one side always succeeds in everything, while the other side succeeds in nothing. Then it would not be a war, but would be a special operation “, – emphasized Dikiy.

The expert noted that there is a very difficult war going on and there is no equipment that is absolutely protected and cannot be hit.

“Why is it not surprising to us that we hit, for example, even long-range radio reconnaissance aircraft, arrange an entire plane attack on Russian front-line aviation – on average we destroy an aircraft per day? So why are we surprised that there may also be losses in our air defense. “Unfortunately, this is normal. War has such a norm. As far as war itself is an abnormal phenomenon,” he added.

At the same time, Dikiy expressed a lack of understanding of why we are trying to hush up these losses.

“But, to be honest, for me the worst thing about this video was not even that the equipment was hit, but that in this case the impression was that the crews had no chance to survive. This is war,” Dikiy said.

The expert claims that there were about 40 HIMARS in Ukraine and during all that time the first one was lost.

“In fact, one should rather be surprised that this only happened now, because we have been using them since the summer of 2022. With Patriot the situation is worse, because everything is literally on the fingers, they give us very little of them and every loss is very painful “, he added.

At the same time, the veteran believes that these losses are justified.

“What was the alternative? And the alternative was not to use Patriot at the front line. And in that case, this would mean allowing Russian aviation to bomb our defense line with absolute impunity. The absolutely correct decision was chosen – to take risks. Because it was thanks to these systems that the Russians lost “There are a lot of planes. So far, the losses of Russians from the fire of our HIMARS, the losses of Russian aviation from our Patriots are much greater than what we had to pay for it,” Dikiy summed up.

The other day, Forbes reported that the Russians destroyed two Patriot air defense systems in Ukraine. According to media reports, near Pokrovsk the occupiers discovered a Ukrainian convoy, which probably included at least two truck-mounted launchers for the Patriot ground-based system.

Reacting faster than usual, the Russian crew of an Iskander hypersonic surface-to-surface missile took aim and scored a direct hit on the Ukrainian convoy. Two of the likely Patriot launchers exploded, almost certainly killing their crews.
