Support for Ukraine will not “provoke” Putin, but will end the war, – Foreign Ministers of the Czech Republic and Poland

Providing Ukraine with comprehensive support will not “provoke” Russian President Vladimir Putin, but will lead to an end to the war.

Foreign Ministers of the Czech Republic Jan Lipavsky and Poland Radoslav Sikorsky noted in the article that Ukrainian soldiers have been forced to seriously conserve ammunition for several months.

“The Russians’ advantage in this matter is now 8:1,” the European Pravda publication quotes the diplomats’ article.

In their opinion, such a situation is definitely not the path to victory.

“But we can still change that. We need long-term security investments that will create a deterrent so powerful that it will impress Putin and his cronies. We can deepen and broaden our alliances to ensure sustainable peace from a position of strength.” noted by Lipavsky and Sikorsky.

They believe that it is possible to create a world where there will be more security and stability, but to do this, we first need to immediately help the Armed Forces of Ukraine right now.

“Ukrainian soldiers are brave and determined, but they cannot be superhumans,” the ministers note.

In this regard, they are convinced that three steps must be taken. In particular, firstly, the European Peace Fund should be replenished by 5 billion euros in 2024, and, secondly, artillery shells should be purchased from sources and countries that the Czech initiative has found.

“This is not the time to be picky. The development of the European defense industry is very important, but Ukraine needs these shells immediately. On the battlefield, it does not matter where they came from,” the foreign ministers note.

In addition, thirdly, it is necessary to use Russian frozen assets.

“Either spend them directly, or use them as debt security or loan guarantees. Who should cover the costs of war – the victim and his allies or the perpetrator? There is no point in looking for an explanation of ‘why not’ when desperately needed aid to Ukraine is so easily available. All of this – steps not to escalate the conflict, but to end it. They will not “provoke” Putin, but will help his victim. And perhaps Russia itself,” Lipavsky and Sikorsky note.

They also believe that it is necessary to realize that this Kremlin aggression is nothing more than the last colonial war in Europe, but the ambitions of dictator Vladimir Putin are much more far-reaching.

“Therefore, Russian aggression may cross new boundaries, as has happened in the history of past attempts to appease the aggressor. Moreover, with every day of Putin’s occupation of Ukrainian lands, the appetites of other authoritarian rulers are growing and new ones are appearing who want to redraw the borders by force,” they said.

According to them, the world now faces an obvious choice.

“Either we will defeat the Russian army on the eastern border of Ukraine, or NATO will see on its doorstep the Russian army, emboldened by the victory in Ukraine,” the foreign ministers noted.
