Ukraine should be considered as the first line of defense for Europe’s energy security, given the country’s advantages in all energy sectors.
This was stated by DTEK CEO Maxim Timchenko at the CERAWeek conference in Houston on March 20.
In particular, he, along with US Deputy Secretary of State Geoffrey Pyatt and Director of the Center for East European Studies Angela Stent, spoke about how Europe can build an energy future without Russian influence.
“With advantages in gas, nuclear energy, and huge potential in renewable energy, the time has come to consider Ukraine as the first line of defense for Europe’s energy security,” Timchenko emphasized.
Earlier in an interview with Bloomberg, Timchenko said that DTEK wants to show foreign investors by example that it is possible to invest in Ukraine even during war.
