Energy workers need time to eliminate the consequences.
As a result of the latest Russian strikes, the Ukrainian energy system suffered losses of at least 100 million euros.
The head of Ukrenergo, Vladimir Kudrytsky, noted that this is only the company’s high-voltage equipment. During the information telethon, he said that recovery takes time, but the situation remains under control. According to him, it will take several days to eliminate the consequences in Odessa, Khmelnitsky and Krivoy Rog.
He warned that residents of these cities should consume electricity sparingly and be prepared for possible power supply restrictions. The situation in Kharkov remains the most difficult; he hopes that it can be improved in 8-9 days.
“Now we have three options on how to increase the supply of electricity to consumers. We are moving along these three paths in parallel. Those pieces of equipment that we can repair will greatly ease the situation for the townspeople,” he added.
The head of Ukrenergo noted that engineering protection of facilities has at least halved the negative consequences of Russian attacks.
Strikes to the energy sector: latest news
As you know, Russia has again returned to shelling Ukrainian critical infrastructure. On March 22, the country was bombarded with drones and missiles, and the strikes caused power outages.
The government reported the defeat of about 20 substations and the Dnieper hydroelectric station – Russia fired eight missiles at it.
The Kharkov mayor’s office reported that after the shelling in the city, thermal power plants and all transformer substations were destroyed.
