According to Oleg Popenko, to repair the infrastructure it is necessary to raise electricity tariffs.
Due to Russian attacks on energy infrastructure, the electricity tariff in Ukraine may rise to 3.5 UAH/kW. Now it is 2.64 UAH/kW. This forecast was given on Novyny.live by the Chairman of the Union of Utility Services Consumers of Ukraine Oleg Popenko.
According to him, Ukraine will not experience any major problems as a result of the Russian attack, “but if we do not think further about the protection of our gas storage facilities, this could lead to serious problems with gas supply throughout Ukraine.”
“In addition to the fact that we store gas, we use it for the winter, we pump Ukrainian gas into our gas storage facilities and then pump it up during the winter. If the shelling of our gas transportation system continues, this could lead to quite serious consequences during the next heating season,” the expert said.
He also predicts an increase in electricity tariffs for Ukrainian consumers.
“If such problems continue (and the general director of Ukrhydroenergo confirmed this) – they see that for repairs it is necessary to raise electricity tariffs. On average, they plan to raise it to somewhere around 3.5 UAH,” Popenko concluded.
Possible increase in electricity tariffs
The Minister of Energy replied that it would happen with an increase in electricity tariffs. According to German Galushchenko, there are currently no decisions to revise tariffs. At the same time, he warned that “each such blow certainly affects the commercial part of the functioning of the market.”
As the minister said, now the energy sector is focusing as quickly as possible on recording the destroyed infrastructure, what condition it is in and how it can be restored.
On March 22, the Russian Federation again shelled Ukrainian critical infrastructure – the strikes led to power outages.
