He stated that due to the failure to conquer the city, the occupiers fired at its inhabitants every day.
Chairman of the Kharkov OVA Oleg Sinegubov responded to information from Russian media sources that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin allegedly plans to occupy Kharkov.
In particular, the chairman of the OVA noted that during 761 days of a full-scale war, the Russians were unable to capture a single large Ukrainian city in battle, including Kharkov.
“We were unable to defeat the indestructible Kharkiv residents either in 2022 or 2023, or to maintain positions in the populated areas of the region,” Sinegubov said.
At the same time, he noted that for the third year now we have been hearing about how dictator Vladimir Putin wants to take Kharkov.
“The medieval tactics of the barbarians: what they cannot take on the battlefield is fired at with rockets, planes and artillery. Therefore, the crazy fantasies of the invaders are accompanied by daily shelling of the civilian population. But the destruction of the houses of civilians is the only thing that the invaders can do out of powerlessness at the front “, emphasized Sinegubov.
He also added that Ukrainians have a unique and fair answer to such “statements.”
“And its Ukrainian defenders prove it every day on the battlefield,” said the head of the OVA.
Russian media reported Putin’s intentions to occupy Kharkov – details
The Russian publication Meduza, citing sources in the Kremlin, the Russian government and United Russia, disseminated information that Putin is going to continue the war.
However, these sources differ in their assessments of what goals the Russian dictator is now setting in this regard. Thus, one of the interlocutors close to the Kremlin believes that after the unsuccessful counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Putin “felt the weakness of Ukraine and is ready to go to victory – even to Kyiv – and he does not care about the price.”
Another interlocutor close to the Kremlin, on the contrary, believes that the top leadership of the Russian Federation is setting itself more “realistic goals,” namely the capture of Kharkov and the gradual end of the “North Military District” after that.
According to Meduza’s sources among the “Russian elite,” high-ranking officials are convinced that the Russian army is capable of taking Kharkov, but further advance deeper into Ukraine will be “difficult.”
