The Russians will try to spread fake news about riots in the Ukrainian army.
The Russians are preparing a campaign to disinformation Ukrainians and discredit the Armed Forces of Ukraine against the backdrop of an attempted new offensive in the summer. Information escalation is predicted for May-June. The head of the Center for Combating Disinformation under the National Security and Defense Council, Andrei Kovalenko, stated this on the air of the “Topic with Moseychuk” project.
“They are trying to suggest that the Armed Forces are not only incapable of reaching the borders of 1991, but even maintaining what they have,” Kovalenko said.
According to him, in parallel with such narratives, the Russians will try to spread fake news about riots in the Ukrainian army.
“They are inventing various stories about riots among officers against the new commander-in-chief. There is a very rich galaxy of fakes,” he said.
The Russians will take certain events at the front and in the rear of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as the basis for the campaign: they will “inflate” the real scale of the damage caused.
“A strike by KAB on Kharkov – behind this there is immediately a “cloud” of 350 thousand who do not exist, but who will go to Kharkov. A strike on the Sumy region – behind this there is a cloud that there are 100 thousand people of some kind who will gather and go to Sumy “, he added.
New Russian offensive – details
A major offensive by Russian troops will begin in the coming months. We are talking about the end of May or June. President Vladimir Zelensky stated this in an interview with the American television and radio company CBS News, which took place on the outskirts of the city of Sumy near the Russian border.
“And we not only need to prepare for this, we need not only to stabilize the situation, because partners are sometimes really happy that we have stabilized the situation. I say that we need help now,” Zelensky said.
