The war in Ukraine continues, and our state urgently needs more air defense systems – Patriot air defense systems and similar anti-aircraft missile systems, against the backdrop of an increase in the intensity of Russian air attacks with ballistic missiles. Thanks to strong air defense on the front line, our troops could not only not lose ground, but also force the Russians to retreat.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba said this today, March 27, during an online briefing for the world media. He noted that Russia has intensified its air terror against Ukraine and in the week from March 18 to 24 alone launched 190 missiles of various types, 140 Shahed drones and 700 guided bombs against Ukraine.

“A feature of current Russian attacks is the intensive use of ballistic missiles, which can reach targets at extremely high speeds, leaving little time for people to find cover and causing significant destruction,” Kuleba emphasized. At the same time, he added that a number of countries in the world have Patriot systems where “the missile threat is zero,” and Ukraine is now the only country that is subject to ballistic missile attacks almost every day.

Kuleba named three critically important results that strengthening Ukrainian air defense will bring. “First of all, a powerful Ukrainian air defense will save thousands of human lives, which in itself is the main goal. Patriot and other similar systems are defensive by definition,” the minister emphasized.

The second argument is that strong Ukrainian air defense will save a significant amount of resources for our state’s partners, because there will be less destruction of critical infrastructure, and therefore less money for restoration.

“Thirdly, powerful Ukrainian air defense will cover our troops and allow them to turn the tide of the war in favor of Ukraine. Russia’s main advantage on the battlefield now is the widespread use of guided aircraft bombs. These bombs, which weigh on average from 500 to 1500 kilograms, allow Russian the occupiers to destroy the targets of the strikes and advance through the ruins. The only way to counter these barbaric tactics is to shoot down the planes that drop these bombs, which requires a sufficient number of modern air defense systems at the front. A strong air defense at the front line would allow our troops not only to not lose ground , but also to force the Russians to retreat,” the minister emphasized.
