The couple is planning a summer wedding and traveling around the world.
100-year-old Harold Terence and 96-year-old Zhanna Sverlin are head over heels in love with each other. The couple plans to get married in France this summer and have revealed the secret of their happy life.
“I still feel butterflies inside. So it’s not just for young people, is it? It’s so wonderful to feel all this at my age,” the woman told CNBC.
Terence’s feelings for his fiancée are exactly the same. He noted that he used to consider the story of Romeo and Juliet the most romantic in the world. However, this is fiction. According to the man, the best love story is his story with Zhanna.
When the couple first met, they were both wary of dating again. Sverlin was widowed twice. The daughter of her second lover introduced the woman to her groom.
During their first date, Terence and Sverlin did not like each other. Terence was also grieving the loss of his wife.
“I wasn’t interested in dating anyone after my wife died. For three years I just stayed away from all women. I was 98 years old, I felt like there wasn’t enough romance in my life and I wasn’t looking for it,” said the man.
But Terence’s best friend encouraged him to see Swerlin again and give the relationship a real chance.
“The secret to longevity is minimizing stress. We have two words that are part of our lives. And those two words are: ‘So what?'” Terence said.
“During that dinner, something happened to me. We were sitting next to each other, and for the first time we touched and looked at each other, and something electric just turned me on. My whole body started shaking. I couldn’t eat, I could barely breathe, I was excited. And I didn’t know, but at that moment I fell in love at the age of 98. And now I’m over 100, and I think I’m more in love with her than then. The love continues to grow every day,” he says .
Lovers love to dance to cheerful music and travel together. The couple also willingly spends time with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
“My favorite thing to do with Jeanne is hang out with her, like yesterday we just hung out all day together, talking, singing, listening to music and making memories. We never get bored, not even for a moment,” says Terence.
Sverlin maintains a positive outlook on the life of his loved one: “Life is beautiful, but you have to make it that way.”
“He calls me every morning and says, ‘Have I told you how much I love you?’ And then he hangs up because he’s starting to choke,” Sverlin says, laughing.
