The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence is completing its consideration of amendments to the draft law on mobilization, having already passed more than 4 thousand of them.

People’s Deputy of Ukraine from “Golos” Yaroslav Zheleznyak reported this on his Telegram channel. “The Defense Committee today completed consideration of 4,051 of 4,266 amendments to the mobilization bill. That is, it is 95% ready. They will complete it tomorrow,” he noted.

At the same time, the deputy emphasized that this does not mean that the bill is ready for voting in the second reading. “Firstly, there will be one more meeting where additional committee amendments will be considered. This is also tomorrow. Secondly, the entire table must also be approved by the Committee’s decision. The schedule is unknown for now,” the parliamentarian explained.

Focus on mobilization 2024 – what was reported

As reported, the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Defense continues to consider amendments to the draft law on mobilization. In particular, he rejected proposals according to which young people over 18 years of age could be mobilized.

The Ministry of Defense has published information about what Bill No. 10449 provides for on mobilization activities and military training.

Thus, mobilization is offered from 25 to 60 years of age, and from 2025, basic military training will be introduced in higher educational institutions. Certain categories of citizens are exempt from basic military training at universities.

Instead of urgent military service, basic military service is introduced for a period of five months in peacetime and three months in wartime. Citizens over 18 years of age can choose to complete basic military service. 18-year-olds, regardless of having completed basic military training or service, will receive a deferment until they reach mobilization age.
