Naturally, the film release dates can be postponed more than once, but the studio’s focus on 2024 allows us to assess the degree of readiness of the project.
As we have already said , the script by Scott Silver and Tod Phillips was ready in the summer. Then we learned the working title of the picture – “Joker: Folie à deux” / “Joker: Madness for Two” and the expected return of Joaquin Phoenix to the title role.
A little later it became known that the singer and actress Lady Gaga, who claims to be Harley Quinn, wants to join the cast, she is also Harleen Quinzel, a psychiatrist from the Arkham Asylum for the criminally insane. According to rumors, a significant part of the action of the film will develop in this clinic, and the picture itself will not be a drama, but … a musical. The filming of the sequel is scheduled to begin this winter.

Note that Joaquin Phoenix received $4.5 million for his role in the first film, but he will be paid $20 million for the sequel – that is, 4.5 times more .
