Twitch has banned chest and buttock broadcasts of gameplay

Twitch has updated its community rules and banned the focus of streams on breasts and buttocks. According to the update, starting March 29, “content that focuses on intimate parts of the body for extended periods of time will not be allowed.”

The move is a deliberate response to a new trend on Twitch where streamers project gameplay onto certain parts of their bodies, such as their breasts or buttocks, using them as a kind of green screen.

This trend was popularized by streamer Morgpie, known for pushing the boundaries of Twitch politics. Earlier this month, she streamed herself playing Fortnite, with the gameplay projected onto her butt.

During another airing, she was wearing a green shirt with cutouts, allowing the viewer to see only her head and breasts. Other streamers took advantage of the gameplay’s new meta-projection of different body parts. But after the renewal of the rules, such activities will become prohibited.

This isn’t Twitch’s first attempt to regulate the over-sexualization of restraints. In December, Twitch loosened its rules to allow “intentional exposure of the breasts, buttocks, or pelvic area” if the video received a special label warning viewers. There were also some other relaxations regarding sexual content on streams. However, after a few days, the company canceled this mitigation because streamers started abusing it. Then, in January, Twitch updated its rules again to ban implied nudity after creators, including Morgpie, streamed themselves from an angle that suggested they weren’t clothed.
