Smartphones for enthusiasts: Xiaomi plans a new sub-brand (details)

August 24, 2022, 12:43

Despite the fact that Xiaomi’s portfolio already has Redmi and POCO sub-brands, the company is thinking about creating another daughter, or at least a series. At least, this is reported by some sources of The Mobile Indian. It is assumed that the sub-brand will be aimed at technical enthusiasts, offering them smartphones that are close to standard Android in terms of software and based on Snapdragon 700-series chips (inexpensive on Snapdragon 765, and advanced on Snapdragon 778). Their other feature will be long-term software support, which includes 3 years of Android updates and 4 years of security patches.

Смартфоны для энтузиастов: Xiaomi планирует новый суббренд (детали)

It is worth noting that this is quite consistent with the recent rumor about the intention of Chinese brands to focus on the middle segment. In addition, the recent Nothing Phone (1), which is close in description and target audience, could serve as a source of inspiration. The devices are expected to target the Rs 15,000-20,000 price range, with Xiaomi’s interest in the tech enthusiast segment stemming from customer frustration with OnePlus products and the lack of Google Pixel devices in India. However, this rumor should be taken with a healthy dose of skepticism, at least until the first hints from Xiaomi appear.
