iPhone 14 Pro's new wider sensor lets you shoot better in the dark

August 30, 2022, 10:28

Only a week remains before the presentation of the iPhone 14 family. The main features of the “Pro” models will be screens without a “bangs” and 48-megapixel main cameras, but Apple’s surprises do not end there. According to authoritative analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (Ming-Chi Kuo), wide-angle cameras have also undergone a “pumping”. It is reported that the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max use a larger sensor with a pixel size of 1.4 microns. And, as you know, the larger the pixel, the more light it can capture, which reduces noise in the pictures. For comparison, in the iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max, this figure is 1.0 microns with a 12-megapixel sensor. At the same time, the new width costs Apple 70% more, which once again indirectly indicates a likely increase in the price of the older iPhone 14. We will find out all the specifics at the presentation on September 7th.
