WHAT?! Today will present a special version of Xiaomi 12S Ultra with a mount

02 November 2022, 07:56

While Apple and Samsung eschew bold, experimental solutions in pursuit of stable profits, Xiaomi never ceases to amaze. In 2019, the company introduced the Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha concept phone to the world, and today announced plans to present a special version of Xiaomi 12S Ultra. According to the video teaser, the engineers placed on the back of the device, no less, a real mount for attaching professional camera lenses. It is quite possible that Xiaomi was inspired by the daring 8-year-old Samsung Galaxy K Zoom concept phone, which received a retractable camera in the style of “soap dishes”. And you won’t have to be intrigued for a long time: already at 9:00 Moscow time, Xiaomi will tell you more about the device.

Naturally, there can be no question of any practicality of the device – you can’t put a phone with a lens in your pants pocket, and if you remove it, you will have to close the bayonet with a lid, which means that in a compact form the phone will literally have no main camera. It is reasonable to assume that at best the device will be released in a small edition for enthusiasts and collectors, but it is better to wait for official statements.
