The official trailer for The Last of Us shows many episodes of the adventures of Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey), revealing their relationship. The heroes travel through a post-apocalyptic USA during the outbreak of a fungus epidemic that turns people into zombie-like creatures. The trailer details the dangers the characters face and sheds light on the nature of the infected.
As in the PlayStation game of the same name, the series sees Joel accompany Ellie, a girl immune to the fungus, around the country hoping to find a cure for the outbreak. The trailer shows snippets of dialogue featuring Storm Reid as Riley, Ellie’s friend, and Nick Offerman (Bill). At the end of the trailer, we see a group of creatures covered in growths crawling out of the fire and advancing towards the camera.
Reviewers note the sophisticated design of fungal zombies and the good casting of the series. If you look carefully at the trailer, you can see Ashley Johnson, Ellie’s mother, playing – the actress voiced the girl in the game.
