In Kyiv, the country’s most difficult situation with energy supply is observed. And so far there have been no changes for the better. This was announced by the head of the energy supply company Yasno, Serhiy Kovalenko.
At the same time, in some areas of the capital, energy is supplied for 5 hours a day, in some – for 2-3 hours, and in some places the energy supply has not been restored since the last shelling by the Russian invaders.
Serhiy Kovalenko noted that the problem is not in insufficient electricity generation, but in damaged networks.
“The city cannot receive power from the country’s power system due to damage to high-voltage equipment,” he added.
According to the head of Yasno, 60% of transformers have been damaged or destroyed so far. Therefore, it is impossible to supply energy to areas where there is no necessary working equipment.

The situation when there is no light in one house or residential complex, and electricity is supplied to neighboring houses, adds trouble and nerves to residents. This is explained by the fact that “food lines in Kyiv are not linear and not always logical from the point of view of the map and districts.” Therefore, it may be that one of the lines is out of order due to a destroyed substation, and the lines leading to neighboring houses are working normally.
At the same time, energy workers are actively working to eliminate the consequences of shelling by the Russian invaders. Work is also underway on new reconnection schemes using available equipment.
So far, energy experts do not undertake to forecast. The situation may improve “when the repair work is completed and when the reconnection scheme is operational.” However, in the case of repeated shelling and hitting energy infrastructure facilities and destruction of currently operating nodes, the situation may become even worse.
In addition, the Energy Research Center believes that Kyiv can return to scheduled power outages in a week or a half. However, in the best case, light will be provided for 10 hours a day.
