Samsung Electronics today announced the launch of the high-performance PCIe 4.0 NVMe PM9C1a solid-state drive. The SSD is based on Samsung’s advanced 5nm process and seventh-generation V-NAND technology, which promises an increase in games.
Thanks to the PCIe 4.0 interface, the Samsung PM9C1a boasts sequential read and write speeds of 1.6 and 1.8 times higher than the previous generation (PM9B1) drives – 6000 MB/s and 5600 MB/s. The device supports up to 900 thousand and 1000 thousand input-output operations per second during reading and writing.
The PM9C1a also delivers up to 70% more energy efficiency per watt than its predecessor. This means that the new SSD can perform the same number of tasks while using significantly less power. In addition, when the laptop goes into standby mode, the SSD consumes about 10% less power.

The Samsung PM9C1a supports the Device Identifier Composition Engine (DICE) security standard created by the Trusted Computing Group (TCG), a global organization that develops open computer security standards. DICE securely generates cryptographic keys on the drive, providing device authentication to protect against supply chain attacks – cyberattacks that target companies through vulnerabilities in their supplier networks.
The Samsung PM9C1a SSDs will be available in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB capacities in the M.2 form factor (22mm x 30mm, 22mm x 42mm, 22mm x 80mm).
The Samsung service center in Germany offered the customer to destroy the problematic SSD with a hammer or a drill under warranty to secure his data
