Electronic Arts has also canceled a game based on the popular Apex Legends and Titanfall franchises, according to three people familiar with the matter. This game has yet to be announced publicly, but the work on its development was led by the Respawn Entertainment studio.

Management told the game’s development team that EA would try to find them positions within the company. A team of approximately 50 people worked on this project. According to knowledgeable people who wished to remain anonymous, all those employees who will not be able to find new positions in the company will be fired and given severance pay. An EA representative declined to comment.

The canceled project, codenamed TFL or Titanfall Legends, was a single-player game set in the shared universe of Apex Legends and Titanfall. It was led by experienced designer Mohammad Alavi until he left the company in early 2022. Although the game has not been advertised, EA has hinted at it several times.

Fans have been clamoring for a new game in the Titanfall series for several years. The last game, Titanfall 2, was released in 2016 and received positive reviews from critics and players. The planned third game turned into Apex Legends, a multiplayer battle royale game set in the same universe. It has become one of EA’s most successful games, earning more than $2 billion. The Respawn Entertainment studio continues to work on Apex Legends updates.
