According to Variety, the series’ final episode drew 7.5 million viewers, a 17% increase over Sunday’s audience for the third episode, which focused on the dramatic relationship between “survivor” Bill (Nick Offerman) and his partner Frank (Murray Bartlett).

Titled “Please Hold My Hand,” the episode once again focuses on Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ella (Bella Ramsay), who, while trying to get to Wyoming, become trapped in a “liberated” Kansas City.

On February 5, The Last of Us had to compete with another popular show – the same night the Grammy 2023 music award was broadcast, which gathered 12.4 million viewers. Last week, the series competed for viewers with the AFC Championship on the East Coast.

Compared to the debut series, the views of the 4th episode increased by 60%. These are great numbers for a show: For example, House of the Dragon, the long-awaited prequel to Game of Thrones starring Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke, saw a slight drop in viewers in its third episode.

The good news for fans of the series is that the fifth episode of The Last of Us is scheduled to air two days early on February 10 (due to the broadcast of the Super Bowl, which is supposed to be the main event of Sunday).

Trailer for the 5th episode of The Last of Us

The Last of Us is based on the popular 2013 PlayStation game of the same name and takes place 20 years after the near-total destruction of modern civilization due to the mutation of the cordyceps fungus. Joel, a smuggler, is hired to smuggle 14-year-old Ellie, who appears to be invulnerable to the infection and could contribute to the creation of a cure, from the quarantine zone to a research facility. The screenwriters and executive producers of the series are Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann.

The first season spans nine episodes, each lasting from 46 to 81 minutes. The series will be released every week, and the final will appear on the air on March 12.
