Last weekend, Ukrzaliznytsia specialists successfully tested a double-decker Skoda Elephant (“elephant”) electric train, which will soon enter the route, after repairs. This was announced by the head of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia Serhiy Leshchenko, noting that the necessary repairs were completed ahead of the previously approved schedule.
On his Facebook page, Leshchenko reported that the tests were successful, noting separately the acceleration to 160 kilometers per hour and the emergency braking test.
Ukrzaliznytsia purchased two Czech Skoda EJ 675 Elephant electric trains before preparations for Euro 2012. For a while, the trains ran along the Kharkiv-Genichesk, Kharkiv-Vinnitsa, Kharkiv-Kiev, Ternopil-Kiev routes, and subsequently they were taken out of service – according to Leshchenko, because “ they didn’t know how to repair them. “
After the change of management, the situation changed – one of the two “elephants” travels to Chernihiv – it was repaired and launched at the end of last year. Soon a second one should join it – which route it will run on is still unknown.
