More than 750 million hryvnias have already been collected for the Army of Drones through the UNITED24 platform. For the first UAH 260 million of this amount, contracts were signed for the purchase of two control stations and 20 Fly Eye drones, 78 Matrice multicopters, as well as two ground systems for 20 Warmate kamikaze drones. The first control system and four Fly Eye drones have already been delivered to Ukraine, and today they will go to the front line to strengthen the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Mikhail Fedorov and Chairman of the State Special Communications Service Yuriy Shchigol spoke about the specifics of the Fly Eye and other copters purchased as part of the Army of Drones project. They also presented the Ukrainian-made UAVs Skif, Skyton and Ukrjet, which potentially will also be able to purchase drones for the Army.
According to them, Fly Eye are high-tech drones that help track the actions of the enemy, change military strategies, and most importantly, save more lives of military and civilians.
“I am convinced that in the future the advantage of the army will not be in a large number of manpower. But in technology and the ability to use them. And thanks to the Army of Drones, our military proves this every day with their results at the front. We will continue to scale this project. Now we are negotiating further purchases of powerful drones with Ukrainian and international manufacturers,” Mikhail Fedorov said.
Fly Eye drones reach speeds of up to 160 kilometers per hour. They can be launched from the hand, and this is a significant advantage, because it is not always possible to start from the launcher. They are compatible with Western rocket and artillery installations, where an automated fire control system is used. This allows you to effectively set goals.
The Matrices are powered by artificial intelligence, and their target-focusing thermal imagers can pinpoint potential hazards. Warmate has a fully autonomous kill system that works on a “fire and forget” concept. This drone can work on different types of targets: infantry, cover, bunkers or light caches.
“The State Service for Special Communications is purchasing copters that will help our army resist the invaders. Agreements were signed for the purchase of DJI Matrice, as well as Fly Eye drones and their control stations. And this is just the beginning. We will not stop working until we achieve the main goal – victory over the enemy, ”said Yury Shchigol.
Through the UNITED24 platform for the Army of Drones, in general, donations were received from 74 countries of the world. The largest number of donations from Ukraine, USA, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, Ireland, France, Switzerland, Australia, Israel. Also, within the framework of the Army of Drones program, there is an opportunity to donate your own copter for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
