The Ministry of Digital Development and the Ministry of Education and Scienceduring an online briefing on August 4 announced a new initiative to provide educational institutions with high-speed Internet called Wi-Fi in shelters. The goal of the project is to create all the necessary conditions for the restoration and continuation of a high-quality and safe educational process by September 1.
As part of the initiative, Ukrainian kindergartens, schools, vocational schools, colleges and universities will receive free routers and the necessary equipment to provide high-speed Internet in shelters from telecom companies.

This is a new challenge not only for the telecom front, but also for the educational process. Now our goal is to create all the conditions by September 1 so that children can continue to study safely and continuously.”

Educational institutions can signal the need for Wi-Fi shelter by submitting an application on the project website. At the same time, all caring providers and socially responsible companies can join the initiative by submitting an application through a special online form .
At present, the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Digital Transformation have already received the first 2,500 routers and 1,000 modems, which will soon go to educational institutions and continue to attract tech companies and Ukrainian Internet providers. What general need is not specified.
The role of the Ministry of Digital Development in the project is the distribution of equipment among educational institutions and technological control over the launch of networks in shelters. Subsequently, a special dashboard should appear, where it will be possible to track the number of applications and the development of the project.
In Ukraine, active preparation for the educational process in full-time format continues from September 1 . As of today, 30% of schools have shelter and continue. The best indicators are in Odessa, Ternopil, Lvov, Khmelnytsky regions and in Kyiv. On the eve of the KSCA, they said that almost 70% of schoolchildren’s parents chose full-time education for their children.
