At today’s presentation, Samsung introduced the new foldable smartphones Galaxy Z Fold4 and Galaxy Z Flip4. New items received a number of improvements compared to the previous generation devices. Let’s dwell on them briefly.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 has improved ergonomics, the device has become 3.1 mm shorter. Thinner bezels have allowed engineers to make the external display 2.7mm wider and with a more comfortable 23:9 aspect ratio (previously 24.5:9). When opened, the novelty is 2 mm wider than its predecessor, but thanks to the reduced bezels, the display has increased in width by 3.1 mm. The new device has become thinner – 6.3 mm in the open state and 15.8 mm in the closed state against 6.4 and 16 mm before. Weight decreased by 8 g – up to 263 g.
The diagonal of the main display remains the same (7.6 inches), but the aspect ratio has changed – now it is 6:5 (previously 6.2:5). The display area above the camera has increased pixel density and is now less visible.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 also boasts an improved camera, taken from the Galaxy S22 and S22+. It is equipped with a 50-megapixel main module with a larger sensor capable of receiving 23% more light. The camera includes improved optical and electronic stabilization. The 10MP telephoto module with OIS now provides 3x optical zoom and 30x digital zoom.
The device packs a new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, 12GB of RAM, and 256GB to 1TB of onboard flash storage. The new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 foldable smartphone is available for pre-order now starting at $1,800 for the 12GB/256GB configuration. Actual deliveries will start on August 25th.
The compact Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 is even more compact with a new thinner hinge that provides a narrower gap and makes the smartphone less prone to damage. The bezels of the foldable display have also been reduced, while the screen size remains the same at 6.7 inches.
The external AMOLED display has a diagonal of 1.9 inches and a resolution of 260×512 pixels, just like the Flip3, but Samsung has expanded its functionality. Many customization options are available to users, including custom panels and themes that sync with the phone’s main user interface. It is possible to reply to messages with speech-to-text and emoticons directly from the external screen. New widgets have also been added to allow you to dial three of your favorite contacts and control your SmartThings home devices without opening your phone. Samsung Pay cards will also be visible right on the small screen.
The configuration now includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, 8 GB of RAM and 128, 256 or 512 GB of internal storage. The main camera has been improved, now it includes a 12-megapixel main module, complemented by an optical image stabilization system. The ultra-wide-angle module has not changed. Another improvement was the use of an increased capacity battery – 3700 mAh versus 3300 mAh. Charging power has also been increased from 15W to 25W.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 is available for pre-order starting today, with shipments starting August 26. The price of the starting configuration is $1000. The price in Ukraine starts from 39999 UAH.
