The much-anticipated debut of the Game of Thrones prequel has seen huge numbers flock to HBO Max. But for some viewers in the US on Sunday night, viewing was technically impossible.
Global monitoring service Downdetector reported more than 3,000 outages to HBO Max in New York just in time for The House of the Dragon to release .
The show has been successfully watched by millions of subscribers, a spokesman for HBO’s parent company Warner Bros said in a statement. “We are aware of a small subset of Fire TV users who are experiencing issues that are in the process of being resolved.”
House of the Dragon comes out more than three years after the last episode of Game of Thrones drew 19.3 million viewers, a record for HBO. The prequel takes place approximately 170 years prior and focuses on the struggle for the Iron Throne within the Targaryen family.
