The Steam client for smartphones has not been updated for a long time and looks rather archaic. Valve seems to have decided to fix this and is now beta testing a new version of the application that looks completely different.
In a blog post, Valve called the new app design one of the key innovations – the changes are immediately evident. It now has a navigation bar at the bottom of the screen that takes you to the store, newsfeed, and Steam Guard section. According to the company, Steam received smarter notifications, an improved library and support for multiple accounts.
By switching to a new framework, the application has acquired additional features. For example, it allows you to scan a QR code from the Steam Guard section to log into a Steam user account, much like it works in mobile Discord.
The beta version for iOS and Android is not yet available to the general public. You can join the testing by following the instructions on the Steam website.
