The key feature of the Pixel 6 family is Google Tensor, Google’s first in-house chipset, co-created with Samsung. And while we’re looking forward to the debut of Tensor 2, which will power the upcoming Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, the first rumors about the third generation of the chip have already begun to surface on the web. According to GalaxyClub, Samsung is testing a chipset codenamed “Ripcurrent”. In the documentation, it is referred to as S5P9865, which corresponds to the naming logic of the first two Google chips: the original Tensor has a model number of S5P9845, and Tensor 2 has a model number of S5P9855. In view of this, we can talk about the intention of the “corporation of kindness” to continue cooperation with Samsung, even despite the frankly faded performance of the first Tensor against the background of the flagship solutions of Qualcomm and MediaTek.
