One of the novelties of the recent Apple presentation was the new AirPods Pro 2 TWS headphones, the first owners of which report a strange error. When the charge level of the headphones or case decreases, warnings begin to come on the iPhone or Mac about the need to “urgently replace the battery”, although this procedure is not technically provided for by the design of the headphones and their case, and is not required – just perform normal charging and the problem goes away.
The clue to such a strange requirement is probably in the Find My application that sends out these alerts. The fact is that earlier such a notification came from AirTag tags, unable to charge and requiring replacement of the tablet battery built into the case. The hypothesis is as follows: the U1 tracking chip was built into the AirPods Pro 2, and Apple programmers could embed some of the AirTag code in the MagSafe case, along with which the unnecessary notification about the need to replace the battery was transferred. This means that Apple will almost certainly fix this bug in one of the next software updates.
