Announcement of Samsung ISOCELL HPX: another 200-megapixel sensor with a deja vu effect

October 20, 2022, 10:35

Samsung unexpectedly rolled out another 200-megapixel sensor for mobile cameras, dubbed ISOCELL HPX. Its specifications are the same as the ISOCELL HP3 presented in the summer, which suggests a rebranding. This is a 1/1.4″ solution with 0.56-micron pixels, which Samsung is promoting as a key feature: the compactness of the sensor allows you to reduce the thickness of the camera block of smartphones by 20%, and 4-in-1 and 16-in-1 binning should help with shooting in low light conditions. The sensor supports recording 8K videos at 30 fps and HDR recordings at 4K and 1080p.Presumably, the release of ISOCELL HPX is timed to coincide with the imminent debut of the Redmi Note 12 series, which is rumored to be a 200-megapixel main camera.
